5 things I learned using Chat GPT
A few months agoI met with my business coach, Mike Whitesides, and during that session, he encouraged me to start playing around with Chat GPT as another tool in my belt for my business. I shared with him my reluctance to touch AI, and he mentioned that in order to stay current or at least stay with the curve in just about any industry, being comfortable with AI was a must. Basically he said If I would be willing to be bad at using it now, when it becomes more mandatory to include it in my work life, I would not be a total newbie.
So I gave it a whirl. Not gonna lie, as someone with a fine arts background, I have been a little salty about the artwork popping up with AI. I am not totally ready to bend on that front, I do see places where AI kinda rocks.
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED using Chat GPT:
1.In this one case, being wordy is fine. I think the more details I give it, the better the results are. I like to give some serious backstory to my situations, and actually defining the problem to solve can be helpful to consolidate the idea in my own head
2.I can refine to my hearts content with this. I continue to go back with my main prompt and ask it to refine with details I did not think of the first time, or from a different angle, or different point of view.
3.It will never sound like me. I will be editing their content, but the word choice, and viewpoints might be coming from an angle I did not think of initially, and I like to at least consider modifying what Chat GPT has to offer. AND! You can ask it to ditch the emojis to save time when you copy and past into a word doc to do your edits.
4. You will need to verify for accuracy. If you ask it to create something like a short answer quiz for a class, it may not have all the details down, so never just cut and paste without reading it to verify. I prefer to edit and just use this as my writers block launching point..
5. You can go back into old sessions, and hit the pencil icon and start the prompt from an earlier point in the session. I actually love seeing my sessions on the side, as it helps my ADHD brain sift through problems I was working on, and tackling.
Bonus thought.... I have yet to toss a task at it that it didn’t have at least a half baked solution for, asking to teach a sunday school lesson, and it helped create a short story, asking to brainstorm a product development idea with my daughter for an art class, and it helped generate nonsense backstory for her product to fill in the packaging instead of using Lorem Ipsum copy.
